U.Z in God’s Service through Missions

Beginings of God’s Work

In 1935 at the General Conference, the three Bishops were appointed to serve as the Foreign Mission Board. In 1936, the Bretheren in Christ offered to our church the privelege of sending Missionary applicants through their Foreign Mission Board, which began a growing oportunity to our church. On Septemnber 21, 1936 Sisite Kathryn Wengert went to Garlin Kentucky to serve inhome missions and later in December 20, 1937 she arrived in Capetown South Africa and truly became our first foreign missionary. In 1949, the General Conference decided to purchase a jeep for the Mission work in India. The conference would pay for ˝ of the cost and the rest would be raised through the youth in Sunday School and Christian Endeavors. On January 15, 1950 we had the opportunity to dedicate the jeep in a service at the United Zion Home. It was shipped out on January 20, 1950 with a total cost of $1239.74.
